Last-Minute Halloween Make-up: Glam Scratches with Tin Foil, a Fork and Lipstick
By Miriam Olivia · October 17, 2026

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you're reading this, chances are you still don't have a costume. Same, honestly. The good news: you don't need fake blood or a fancy SFX kit for this one. Just tin foil, a fork and a red lipstick.
Halloween is my favourite excuse to go all out. Forget the zombie look. This is glam with a dangerous little twist, so you can show up as the femme fatale everyone remembers.
What you'll need
- •A piece of tin foil, about the size of your hand
- •A regular fork
- •A red lipstick (I used one from MAC, but any red will do)
- •Your usual glam products: foundation, black and warm eyeshadow, lashes and a nude lip
How to do it
1. Glam first. Do your make-up like you're going out: smooth skin, a dark smokey eye with black and a warm reddish brown blended into the crease, lashes on, glossy nude lips. The prettier the base, the more the scratches pop.
2. Prep the foil. Scrunch it into a loose ball, then flatten it a little. All those wrinkles are what give you that messy, realistic texture.
3. The neck wound. Dab some lipstick onto the foil and press it gently against your neck, moving it around a bit each time. Start light. You can always add more, but taking it away is a pain.
4. The face scratches. Rub the tips of the fork over the lipstick, then drag it gently across your skin in one go, on your forehead or just under your eye. Don't press, the fork is only there to transfer the colour.
5. Finish it off. If a line looks too faint, go over it with a thin brush and a touch of lipstick. Done!
A few tips from me
- •Keep the scratches minimal. Two or three spots is plenty. Any more and you lose the glam.
- •Make it last. A light dusting of translucent powder or a spritz of setting spray keeps the scratches in place all night.
- •Stay away from your eyes. Never use the fork close to your eyelid or lash line.
- •Taking it off: a cleansing oil or micellar water melts lipstick right off. Then just do your usual skincare.
